Parallel Park
The Examiner will ask you to pull up on the left..then ask you to move away and stop at the side of a car/van and reverse back behind the said vehicle..completing the manoeuvre within 2 car lengths
Pull up on the right and reverse
Here’s the instruction you will be given while you are driving…(the Examiner will not pull you over to give you this instruction)
“Pull up on the right when it is safe to do so please”.
“I’d like you to reverse back for 2 car lengths please, keeping reasonably close to the kerb”.
If another vehicle pulls up behind the car and stops you reversing back, it will not count as being completed. The Examiner will ask you to drive away and another manoeuvre will be carried out later during the test.
If a vehicle pulls up in front, the manoeuvre will be carried out until completed. If the vehicle blocks your view, the Examiner will help you out and offer advice.
Parking in a bay
For this manoeuvre, a variety of car parks will be used..Halfords, Tesco, Aldi, Hotels. Don’t worry as the Examiners will have done lots of planning and will know which ones are suitable.
The Examiner will ask you to park in a bay…either drive in forward and reverse out..or reversing in and driving out forward..(the Examiner will tell you which, but won’t instruct which bay to use).
Here’s the instruction you will be given
“I’d like you to drive forward into a convenient parking bay, making sure you finish within the lines, either to the left or right (if the car park allows it)”.
“Now I’d like you to reverse out either to the left or right ( if the car park allows it”.
You do not need to park in a bay between other vehicles..it is your choice where.
You cant drive through a parking bay into another. When you reverse out, you can’t go into any bays behind you.
Or
